Maxis Announces SimCity 3000 Unlimited

This morning, Maxis announced the development of SimCity 3000 Unlimited, the follow-up to last year's second-best-selling game and highest-grossing title of 1999. The game adds a suite of new gameplay options to SimCity 3000 like the addition of European and Asian building sets, weather effects, new disasters, 13 new scenarios, and a scenario creator that lets players make and trade their own mission-based levels.

"SimCity 3000 Unlimited is the ultimate SimCity experience," according to Christine McGavran, lead producer for Maxis' line of city-building games. "We've taken the most requested features from SimCity 3000 fans and added a bunch of our own to create this new version."

Maxis gave us three brand-new screenshots of SimCity3000 Unlimited for your enjoyment. They depict the new Asian and European building sets and the acid-rain disaster. Unlimited will release toward the end of May and does not require a retail copy of the original game to play.
